Parkinson’s Client and Family Care Manager

The Company

HeadWay – Victoria Epilepsy and Parkinson’s Centre, is a small and friendly non-profit that offers private consultations, programs, peer supports and educational services to the Parkinson’s community. With an emphasis on care, knowledge and support, HeadWay’s mission is to support clients and their families to live the best life.

The Position

We’re looking for a Client and Family Services Parkinson’s Manger to join our team. This position is essential in providing new services to our clients in our evolving organization. The position is 30 hours per week with a chance to go to 37.5 hours a week. The pay range we are offering is $25-$33 an hour, depending level of education, history in the sector, and relevant work experience. We offer an excellent extended Health Care Plan, and matching RRSP contribution plan.


Experience working with community agencies and a strong will to better the quality of life of people with Parkinson’s and promote wellness and health.

Preference will be given to candidates with qualifications in health care professional background including; nursing, pharmacy, geriatrics, psychology, social work, community health or allied health professions. Alternate combination of education and experience will be considered.

2 years plus experience in healthcare client service environment or senior-related industry, preferably in a client facing role (care assessment and planning, case management etc.)

Knowledge and understanding of experience with the seniors' population particularly related to mood, cognition and mental health.

Counselling experience or training and knowledge of community resources, health care and social service systems.

Ability to work independently on program management of all day-to-day aspects of a specified program activity including preparation, and management of program budgets and expenditures.

Fundamental program management experience.

Must be able to liaise between a wide range of internal and external constituencies involved in program activities including medical community, government bodies, other non profits and donors.

Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications.

Must possess a valid driver's license and auto insurance


Functioning as a team member of HeadWay, this individual will report directly to the Executive Director. The Parkinson’s Client and Family Care Manager is accountable for a seamless service experience that meets the individual needs of the client and their support circles.  

Direct Client Services (60%)

  • Provide individuals, families and members of the community with consultations/counselling and follow up support.
  • Meet with clients and family members to discuss their needs and provide solutions in the form of a care plan.
  • Encourage client use of community services through publicity and partnership development with relevant professionals and agencies.
  • Support ongoing Peer-led groups and client networking by coordinating logistics and educational opportunities.
  •  Create and manage Victoria Parkinson’s workshops three times yearly.
  • Create newsletter content in the form of a program and agency report, PD & care partner educational articles, & information about community resources.

Community Liaison (25%)

  • Identify relevant service providers and community resources to support HeadWay PD members
  • Collaboratively work with health care professional and allied health providers, to provide high quality support for our members and their families.
  • Support ongoing Peer-led groups and support client networking through peer links and the PDeNetwork.

Program management and Administration (15%)

  • Collaborate with staff team for service planning in response to client needs, assessments, community trends, agency strategic plans and resource availability.
  • Supports the team in writing and editing program catalogs, promotional materials, educational materials, training manuals, and/or brochures, as appropriate to the program.
  • Collects and analyzes data; prepares scheduled and special reports; maintains program/project records and statistical information.
  • Assists with grant and/or proposal writing as appropriate to the objectives and funding nature of the program; may participate in other fundraising activities.

LocationHeadWay is based in Victoria, BC and is central near Oak Bay Village.
