Epilepsy Awareness Month
March is Epilepsy Awareness Month!
For anyone who does not know about Purple Day, it is an internationally recognized day of epilepsy awareness and support started right here in Canada by young Cassidy Megan. At 9 years old, Cassidy approached her local epilepsy association in Nova Scotia with the idea of creating a space to talk about what it is like to have seizures. 5 years later, Canada has legally recognized March 26th as Purple Day and people around the world show their support by wearing purple.
We have alot of exciting events happening in March and we want you to get involved! The options are endless - if you want to plan your own epilepsy awareness event, let us know, and we can help you get started and spread the word through our social media outlets.
Purple Day Bunny Hop: Our local daycares and preschools participated in the Bunny Hop last year. For those of you who do not know what this is: 1 in 100 people have epilepsy, so to show support, preschoolers can participate by raising pledges 100 times on March 26th.
